The Nissan Juke arrived as one of the boldest small crossovers of its time when Nissan introduced it in the early 2010s. Instead of following the safe styling typical of compact SUVs, the Juke leaned into an intentionally strange look with a frog-like front end and a multi-layered lighting setup. The design split the lights into three distinct positions: slim daytime running lights high on the hood, main headlights lower in the bumper, and separate signal elements, giving the front end a stacked and somewhat insect-like appearance.

Beyond the polarizing styling, the Juke helped pioneer the subcompact crossover segment, offering a small footprint with higher ride height and sporty handling. Some versions even featured a turbocharged engine that made the little crossover surprisingly lively to drive. While the unusual design divided opinions, the Juke became memorable for refusing to blend in, proving that even practical crossovers could experiment with bold and unconventional styling.
