The Lincoln Blackwood was one of the strangest luxury experiments ever attempted in the pickup world. Launched for the 2002 model year, it was based on the Ford F-150 but reworked by Lincoln into an ultra-premium truck. It featured a 5.4-liter V8, rear wheel drive, and a cabin packed with leather and wood trim. The real oddity was the cargo bed, which was lined with carpet and covered by a power tonneau lid, while the exterior panels wore glossy fake wood accents.

In practice, the Blackwood was almost comically impractical for a pickup. The bed could not handle typical truck duties, all wheel drive was not available, and the luxury price pushed it far above normal trucks. Traditional truck buyers found it too delicate, while luxury buyers rarely wanted a pickup at all. The result was a one year production run and one of the rarest modern trucks ever sold.
