The Honda Crosstour was Honda’s attempt to turn the familiar Honda Accord into something closer to a crossover. Instead of the traditional sedan shape, the Crosstour adopted a high-riding fastback body with a sloping rear hatch, giving it a bulky profile that many people described as looking like a “hunchback” version of the Accord. While the front half clearly resembled the sedan it was based on, the tall rear section and thick tail made the overall proportions feel unusual and somewhat awkward.

Despite the controversial styling, the Crosstour tried to blend the strengths of multiple vehicle types. It offered the comfort and driving feel of a midsize sedan while adding extra ground clearance, a large hatchback cargo area, and optional all-wheel drive. The idea was to appeal to buyers who wanted more versatility than a sedan without committing to a full SUV. While the concept made sense on paper, the unusual shape struggled to win broad appeal, and the Crosstour is now remembered as one of Honda’s more curious experiments in blending sedan and crossover design.
