The Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R (SN95) represents Ford's most track-focused Mustang variants of the 1990s, with the 1995 Cobra R using a 5.8L Windsor V8 producing 300 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque, paired exclusively with a 5-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. Its chassis received Koni adjustable dampers, stiffer springs, larger brakes, revised steering, and 17-inch wheels, while the Cobra R was stripped of nonessential equipment to reduce weight.

Limited to just 250 examples for 1995, the Cobra R was developed with competition use in mind and lacked features such as air conditioning and a rear seat. Its combination of a high-output pushrod V8, manual transmission, reduced weight, upgraded suspension, and low production made the SN95 Cobra R one of the most focused factory Mustangs of its generation.
