The Ford Mustang Dark Horse feels less like a trim package and more like Ford lifting the curtain on what the new S650 chassis is really capable of. The 5.0-liter Coyote is at its strongest here, built with forged internals and a higher redline that encourages you to stay in the throttle longer, and the Tremec manual gives the car a more mechanical and purposeful feel than the standard GT.
What stands out is how composed the Dark Horse is when you lean on it. The MagneRide tuning, stiffer subframe connections, and upgraded cooling make it feel ready for real track work, not just weekend cruising. It has the precision and stability you want when pushing harder, but still keeps the everyday manners that make a V8 Mustang easy to live with.
The Ford Mustang Dark Horse is for the driver who wants the most focused naturally aspirated Mustang of the modern era, with a personality that’s more controlled aggression than loud bravado.
