The original SVT Raptor redefined the performance truck segment by shifting the focus from paved drag strips to high-speed off-road terrain. Built on the 12th-generation F-150 platform, Ford's Special Vehicle Team widened the track by seven inches, added composite front and rear fenders, and integrated a prominent front grille with block letter badging. Its aggressive stance, functional hood vents, and Baja-inspired capabilities established a blueprint for every modern factory pre-runner that followed.

While early 2010 models debuted with a standard 5.4-liter V8, the available 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 quickly became the defining engine, putting down 411 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque. Power feeds through a 6-speed automatic transmission and a two-speed transfer case equipped with an electronic-locking rear differential. The chassis utilizes specialized internal-bypass Fox Racing dampers along with cast-aluminum front control arms, granting 11 inches of front suspension travel and 12 inches in the rear to soak up high-speed desert washouts.
