The Cadillac XLR 2004–2009 is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive luxury roadster powered by a 4.6L Northstar V8 producing 320 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Its chassis uses an aluminum-intensive space frame, independent suspension, Magnetic Ride Control, four-wheel disc brakes, and a retractable aluminum hardtop, while the later XLR-V added a supercharged 4.4L Northstar V8 producing 443 hp.

The XLR combined Cadillac's luxury design with Corvette-derived architecture, a retractable hardtop, and advanced electronic chassis technology, creating a roadster unlike anything else in the brand's lineup.
