The Cadillac Escalade EXT was Cadillac’s bold attempt to turn a luxury SUV into a pickup. Based on the Cadillac Escalade, it added a short cargo bed and a clever “midgate” system that allowed the rear wall of the cabin to fold down for longer cargo. Powered by large V8 engines and packed with leather, chrome, and tech, the EXT delivered the same flashy presence the Escalade was known for while adding some truck capability.

In reality, the EXT leaned more toward style than practicality. The bed was relatively short and the truck was huge, heavy, and unapologetically excessive. Still, it became a symbol of early 2000s luxury bravado, especially in the United States. Produced across two generations before ending in 2013, the EXT remains one of the most recognizable attempts to blend a high end SUV with pickup utility.
