The BMW 4-Series 440i was one of the final opportunities to experience a non-M BMW coupe with a manual transmission, produced by BMW during the later years of the F32 BMW 4 Series. Paired with the highly regarded B58 turbocharged inline-six, the six-speed manual version offered a smooth balance of strong performance, refinement, and driver engagement without stepping up to a full M model.

As BMW gradually phased out manual options in its mainstream lineup, the 440i 6-MT became a rare enthusiast choice. It combined rear-wheel-drive dynamics, a powerful modern straight-six, and traditional stick-shift control, creating a formula that echoed classic BMW sport coupes. Today it is often seen as one of the last accessible manual BMW grand touring coupes before the company’s shift toward automatics and electrification.
